BAAN Racers giving to charity
It is important for you to know who we are as potential donators, sponsors and members. Despite the appearance of dislike for one another and those around us, we are the guys and girls sitting around the camp fire with a beer in our hand, laughing, joking and teasing one another. We are the people at the bar after the race who maybe a little bit loud but are having the most fun. We are the people who have our kids at the track, the people who are helping other racers in need at the track and the people who will accept anyone into our groups that want to be a part of the fun.
With understanding of the above, there is very little sacred to us when we tease one another however, 3 thing are very sacred to us, our loyalty to one another and this site, our children and lastly our fellow racers!
With that said, it only makes sense for us to support all 3 thing we hold sacred, all our members support the site at every given opportunity. To better support the children and riders in need we are collecting donations from now until the conclusion of the 2008 race season.
Donations can be made by donating to use on a per race basis, 1 time donations and we will have collection boxes set up at each of the series we attend (GNCC, OMA Nationals, AGP, IATVHSS, OXR, MHSC, District 6 & 7).
The per race donation will work as follows: The donor will pledge an amount to donate for race wins (in class), he/she then may also pledge a lesser amount for a top 10 finish if he/she wants to, the individual may then pledge a lesser amount yet for a top 20 finish. If a person decided to donate $0.25 per win, $0.10 per top 10 and $0.05 per top 20, and with approximately 104 races between the 8 of us, the maximum pledge if we won ever in class race would be $26.00.
Who is this money going to you maybe asking yourself. All money received (minus any paypal fees) will be split 50/50, 1/2 of the donations will be sent to the National Foundation for Abused and Neglected Children (NFANC) and the other 1/2 of the donations will be sent to the RiderDown Foundation (RDF), 2 very worth causes (please visit their sites with the links below)
National Foundation for Abused and Neglected Children - is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
RiderDown Foundation - is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping responsible off road motorcyclists and ATV racers who have been injured while riding. Proceeds are used to provide assistance to the riders and their families when faced with medical expenses and related issues.
What about tax time maybe your next question. Both organizations are not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, therefore your gift is tax deductible. I am keeping donation amounts, names, addresses, e-mail and phone number (the phone numbers will not be provided to the charitable organizations) in MS Excel format which I will deliver a copy with the donations to both NFANC and RDF. If you pledge is $500.00 or more, NFANC and RDF will mail receipts to those individuals. If the amount is less than $500.00, the donator will need to write 2 canceled checks, split the amount in 1/2 and make one check out to the NFANC and the other canceled check out to RDF, with the spreadsheet I provide NFANC and RDF, this will be enough for the IRS to confirm you have indeed donated.
